Cabinet Approves MoU with China for Collaboration in Key Sectors

The federal cabinet, under the direction of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, has approved the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Pakistan and China. This MoU aims to enhance collaboration in six key sectors: manufacturing, new energy vehicles, textiles, agricultural processing, pharmaceuticals, and information technology.

This strategic agreement, proposed by the Ministry of Commerce, is set to bolster trade cooperation between Pakistan and China, as per a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office.

In addition to the MoU, the cabinet approved the charter legislation for the National University of Modern Languages in Islamabad, recommended by the Ministry of Federal Education and Vocational Training. The establishment of King Hammad University of Nursing & Associated Medical Sciences, a project supported by Bahrain, was also approved.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reviewed an inter-ministerial committee report on missing persons, which detailed internal challenges related to terrorism post-Afghan war and highlighted efforts over the past decade. The cabinet endorsed the committee’s recommendations and sanctioned a relief package of Rs. 5 million for the families of missing individuals.

Furthermore, the cabinet ratified the decisions made by the Cabinet Committee on State-Owned Enterprises on July 22, 2024.
